Meet the Snowman Stroll artists - Laura Grossnickle

Artist Biography:

Laura is a sixth-grade teacher at Pilot Butte Elementary in Rock Springs, teaching language arts and science. Art is a hobby. She's always enjoyed painting and doing some type of craft project since she was a young child. Laura's mom would always purchase Christmas village pieces for her to paint. She finds that during Wyoming’s long winters, she tends to get stir-crazy so she turns to art and focus on an art project to keep her busy. Most of Laura's work has been done for her own enjoyment or if she had a vacant wall in her house that needed something. She also has done many projects for friends or as donations to various groups for fundraisers.

Artist Statement:

I was inspired by the Wyoming mountain snowstorms. The ones where snow is falling gently, there’s a silence over the land and you're cozying up to the fire. I wanted to make it a little whimsical too. Try to find the bunny! I chose to do a reverse ombre design with white moving to dark blue to help show that the snow is falling onto the night of the landscape.
